Pretzel Toffee Bark
Buttery pretzels and toffee play a delightful foil to rich semi-sweet chocolate. And the M&Ms just make it fun!
Pretzel Toffee Bark
Ingredients
- 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 stick butter
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 1/2 cup pretzel sticks
- 1/4 cup mini M&Ms
Grease a cookie sheet or line with silicon mat.
Melt the semi-sweet chocolate over a double-boiler. Ensure the bottom of the bowl does not touch the surface of the water. Set aside.
Fit a small sauce pot with a candy thermometer. Add the butter, sugars, and salt to the pot. Cook over medium-high heat. Swirl occasionally. Cook until sugar mixture reaches 300F. The sugar should be dark brown in color and bubbling violently. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla. Sprinkle over the baking soda and combine thoroughly. Quickly pour the content of the pot onto the pan and spread into an even rectangle. Cool for 5 minutes.
Spread the melted chocolate over the toffee. Sprinkle the top with pretzels and M&Ms. Chill for at least 1 hour.
Break the toffee into large shards. Store in an airtight container.
Makes 4 cups toffee pieces
Notes from the Chef:
-A handful of chopped almonds would make a delightful add to this bark
