Burger Bowl
When there's no time for patty making, this burger bowl does the trick.
Burger Bowl
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 2 tbsp worchestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 4 slices American cheese
- 2 cups brown rice, cooked
- 2 cups lettuce, shredded
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 2 avocados, chopped
- 1/4 cup bread and butter pickles, chopped
- 1/4 cup red onion, sliced thin
For the sauce
- 2 tbsp mayo or plain Greek yogurt
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1/2 tbsp pickle juice
- 1 tsp honey
- hot sauce to taste
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Brown the turkey meat. Season with salt and pepper. Add the worchestershire sauce and ketchup. Reduce the heat to low and add the cheese slices. Cover the pan until the cheese has melted.
For the sauce, whisk together all ingredients in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve the turkey mixture over brown rice. Drizzle with the sauce. Top with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and avocado.
Serves 4
Notes from the Chef:
-Rather than a bowl, serve the meat mixture sloppy-joe-style on a toasted hoagie roll and top with the fixings
